▼: => Your are running through pouring rain. Its heavy, cold, and thundering. Lightening flashes brightly in various areas around you. The cold chills down your spin. Your almost to your apartment house. However, something catches your eye as you run by an alley. You stop and peer inside the alley. A small, black haired boy is curled in a ball, back against the wall. Hes sobbing, and looks as if he'd been in the rain for hours on end. What will you do? (Looking for Karkat, or Dave)
▲: ((Dave! >w<))
▼: [[ DAVE!!!♥ iv been looking all over for chu~~ ]]
▲: ((<3))
▼: [[ >w< *goal acheived* ]]
▲: Dave stopped, a thousand thoughts running through his mind at one time. Would he leave this boy alone to his suffering or attempt to invite him inside his apartment and in consequence subject him to the potential horror that was his brother's random, and often traumatizing, appearances? He decided that his brother was obviously the lesser of two evils and at least wouldn't try to kill the poor kid. Stepping forward into the alley way, Dave knelt in front of the kid. "Hey, yer gonna catch a cold." he mumbled awkwardly while shucking his coat and offering it to the boy.
▼: John sobbed and lifted his head to meet the others eyes. He seemed horrified, scared, unable to exactly see anything. Tears still streaming down his face, blurring his site. He slowly, shakily reached out his hand and gently took the coat. Staring for a moment, then placing it around himself. He still was to petrified to try and mumble out words. He stared at the other before him, thunder cracking and making the black haired boy jump, startled.
▲: Dave furrowed his brow. Obviously something bad had gotten to this kid for him to be so scared. He sighed and brought up a hand to rub at the back of his neck. "You need a place tah stay? I aint promisin' much but there's a bed you can have and a microwave burrito er somethin'." He said over the sound of rain and any potential thunder. His voice came out in a monotonous texan twang, devoid of any emotion. Just as he was taught over the years.
▼: John nodded, a little hope shined in his eyes. He liked this new kid, but was also a little afraid, but if he was offering some where to stay, John couldn't say no. ANYTHING was better then staying outside like this. He reached out his hand for the other boy, still silent of any ability to speak. He looked at the other, clean of emotion. It frightened John slightly, but he still didn't protest.
▲: Dave took the kid's hand and pulled him up. It was weird how quiet the black haired boy was, aside from the sniffling that is. "Im Dave by the way. Dave Strider." he said as he pulled the boy along, not letting go of his hand just in case he got lost or something. How the boy would manage that when Dave was right in front he had no idea, but based on the way the kid was curled up in an alley, he wasn't going to put it past him. Rain was really soaking into his clothes now, matting down his blonde hair and chilling him to the bone. He couldn't help but let out a little shiver. How that kid had kept from going into shock from the cold had to be some kind of miracle or something.
▼: John nodded as Dave told his name. John still didn't speak however. He continued following him in cold silents. The heavy rain already had pretty much numbed him. It was weird how it didn't hurt, the cold. It probably should have, but it didn't, which scared John. He shook off the thoughts with a shiver as he held Daves hand tightly and continued to follow closely behind.
▲: Dave stayed silent after that. Shrugging and just continuing to guide the kid. He led the other up several flights of stairs and then stopped in front of the elevator. Usually Dave would have taken the stairs all the way up but this kid had suffered long enough. He jammed his finger on the up button a couple of times before waiting a minute for the metal box to finally make its way to them. Stepping inside, he pushed the button for the fourteenth floor and once again waited. It took the elevator five minutes and fifty-eight seconds to make it. Stepping out and taking the short trip it took him to reach his door Dave fished in all of his pockets for his keys. Finding nothing but his wallet and cell, he turned on the black haired boy, shoving a hand in a jacket pocket to find what he wanted.
▼: John followed in silents, nearly smiling when Dave crammed the elevator button in. He kept his complexion though and followed along, jumping when the blond haired boy began digging in the pockets of the jacket on him now. He just watched closely. Still refusing to speak. Still not protesting.
▲: Dave pulled out the key and turned back to the door, sticking the key in and turning. Opening the door he stepped in cautiously. Not yet daring to bring the kid inside. Once he assessed the apartment hallway to be safe and relatively puppet free, not counting the smuppet hanging halfway out of the bathroom, he led the boy quickly into his room. Shutting the door behind them, Dave left the kid standing in the middle of his room a careful distance away from his turntables or any other important electronics and went to flip on the lights. "Welcome to Casa de Strider. Make yer self at home. You want a change a clothes?" he asked, looking the soaking wet boy up and down now that he could see him properly even though everything was still shaded because of his aviators.
▼: John looked around the apartment, amused with his surroundings. He was interested in how many electronics one boy could have in a single room. He was very amused by the turn table and winced when the lights shined suddenly. He watched Dave closely and shyly nodded when asked for new cloths. Yet still, John didn't speak. He probably would have been chatting a storm by now.
▲: Once again Dave furrowed his brow at the silence. He went over to his closet and began searching for a shirt and a pair of lounge pants that might fit the kid. Never one to beat around the bush Dave chose this time to ask what was really bothering him. "Hey, yer not a mute are ya? Aint like there's somethin' wrong with it, I was just wonderin'." he said nonchalantly, turning now to face the other. He stepped forward and offered the clothes to the boy.
▼: John shook his head with an expression of 'no way dude' on his face. He bluntly had put the coat on Daves bed and began stripping down, clothing himself in the new, warm and dry clothing. He blinked and smiled, the black-haired boy opened his mouth to speak but........ Nothing. John blinked and shook his head, opening again, but nothing came out but air and a small pained squeak. He stared at Dave as if in disbelief.
▲: Dave turned his head to the side as the kid dressed, didn't want him to think that the Strider was watching or anything. He turned back and watched as the kid tried to talk. Dave crossed his arms in thought. This was definitely bad if the kid was just finding out he couldn't talk. He walked over to his desk and grabbed a notebook filled with SBAHJ doodles and bits of written out raps. Flipping to a clean page and grabbing a pen he turned his attention back to the boy and shoved the notebook and pen into his hands.
▼: John stumbled slightly and quickly took the notebook and pen, running over to Daves computer desk and laying the notebook down, meeting the pen to the paper, John began writing, in that lovely handwriting of his. 'Gosh, first off my name is John Egbert.Second, I have no idea were my voice went. Thank you for taking me in though, you have no idea how much I appreciate it Dave!'
▲: Dave walked over behind John and read over his shoulder. Man that kid, John, had nice writing. It made his chicken scratch look like crap in comparison. He shrugged it off and finished reading. "Egbert, huh? Alright, no problem." He said, answering the written words. "So, why were you in that alley?" He asked after waiting a minute. He hoped to get to the bottom of the big mysteries before moving onto the problem of his voice.
▼: John sighed, the pretty much only thing he could manage to make vocally. He continued to write 'i was kicked out of my home, because my dad died about a week ago. i had no were to go, so i staid in the house, but eventually these big scary cop guys came and forced me out of the house, i didn't like it. so i ran away. i eventually found myself in this place and i got lost. im really happy you came and found me, thought id never find anyone'
▲: Dave stood stalk still for a moment. His own parents had died when he was younger but he had bro to take care of him then. He didn't know about John. Hell, for all Dave knew, Egbert's dad could have been the only person in his life. "I'm sorry to hear that man. I...think you should have a chat with my sister when yer ready. She's pretty good with this sort a stuff. Might be able to find out why you aint able to talk any more." He said, brushing his wet bangs over lightly. Giving a shiver he just realized that he was still in his wet clothes.
▼: John had his hands on the desk, he was watching the words 'dad' and 'died' closely. He could feel his heart sinking. He hated this, he just wanted his father back, the only person who was there for him. Pretty much, his only friend. John could feel himself shaking. He felt a tear slip from his eyes, making a pit-pat noise onto the notebook. His eyes widen, the room was so silent, he hoped dave didn't hear that. He wiped his eyes quickly and stood. He stared contently at the wall.
